I just bought a Digital Rebel and the file numbering started at 113-1300, after some search on the forum i found that means there has been 13 files made and 1300 shutter click. I'm just wondering is this normal for a new camera?

Typically a new camera will start at folder # 100 and your first image will start at 001 and go to99 the next folder will be #101 and image 100 and so forth. You might have gotten a camera used for demo purposes.

...I hate to suggest it, but it's probably what the OP was thinking, a returned camera?

Sure sounds like it. May I asked what store tried pulling this over on you? Make them exchange it if they give you trouble contact the Better Business Bereau at http://bbb.org/they normally will get things done but it can take time.
