Thanks to advice on this forum, I've shot rooms with excellent results using the 'ol 10D. Now, I need to go and shoot some tables and a ballroom before an event. Considering I'm really a print/web designer, I'm pretty proud of that. :-)

In the past, I've seen a pro shoot with medium format (Mamiya and 'Blad) using 100 ISO neg film (no details) and a strobe, and he was able to paint the light where he wanted it. So the room was well lit and the foreground table/centerpiece was well lit too. What are the recommended settings on a digital SLR so I can practice?

On top of that, the candles had that nice sparkle to them. Is that an exposure issue or an expensive lens issue? I don't have a top lens.

Thanks for any advice.
