Hello,

I have just bought a digital rebel with the kit lens and I'm new to taking pictures with an SLR camera. Is there a good book that teaches how to use this camera and explain all the functions and other stuff I should know?

what about the user's manual that comes with the camera?? if you don't have it, you can download it from Canon's website.

I have the manual, but I was looking for something that also explained all the photo techincal terms along the way. Basically something like a tutorial.

Go over and get a copy of Dennis Curtin's Canon EOS DigitalRebel Photographyhe has the best after-market digicam books around. I've never heard anything but compliments about his work and I've got several of them here and they're excellent and reasonably priced.

In the late 70s to early 80s, I found a series of popular books (at the time) by Carl Shipman titled "How to Select and Use (insert company name here) SLR Cameras", published by HPBooks.

These are interesting reads. I have 2 Pentax, and one Olympus book in the series.

I did a quick little search and found this information for you on EOS cameras. It is fairly outdated (to the start of the EOS line), but the information inside, should prove very useful. I highly recommend his books.

I have to ditto this site. I bought my Rebel this month -- my first digital. Although the manual is necessary -- this is a GREAT quick start. I was better able to understand much of the manual after using the Rebel tutorial.

If you can't find Curtin's book, try Magic Lantern Guides' Canon EOS Digital Rebel by Rob Sheppard.

cheers,
