New firmware is available at http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/BeBit-e.html

Read the instructions first - remove the lens before updating the 20D

Interesting instruction... remove the lens?

I assume this is a new one, as I thought I read that the previous version was pulled from the Canon JP site.

Installed this one with no problem. It is interesting that Canon wants you to remove the lens before installing the update. However, after thinking about the original problem it was related to lens exchanging. I never had a problem with my camera under any of the firmware versions.

Just installed version 1.05 with no difficulty until the last step which is to format the flash card. The camera froze at the end of the format. I had to remove the battery and after reinstalling a second try at formating was successful. ...things that go bump in the night!...
