I showed the Metz to 2 of my frineds who are Pros & they said, I cannot tell you what to do or how to set this flash. Return it & pay $30.00 more & get the 550EX! I plan on doing that tomorrow. - They both own all Canon DSLR's & all Canon 'L' glass & both have the 550EX.

Here what some 'Pros' have to say about the 550EX:
"Canon 550 EX We're sorry to report that this flash just isn't up to par in TTL mode, and it does not have an AUTO mode.

Dear Canon shooters, please don't shoot the messenger. We love Canon cameras, adore their lenses, but this flash unit is not worthy of the name it bares. If you want a fully integrated TTL dedicated flash for your 10D's and the Metz and Quantum are out of budget range, may we suggest the Promaster 7500? No kidding. See it's comments below.
