Like the subject says. How fast is needed to make full use of the 5 fps or does it not matter with the large buffer?

I use a Sandisk Ultra II 1GB and it works great. I paid $85 at www.buy.com. Sandisk has just released the Ultra Extreme (I think that is the name) and it suppose to be faster.

What speed is the Scandisk Ultra II? x40 x80?
Has anyone got seen any good prices for these in the uk?

*edit*
Just found a 1gig Lexar x80 for £61. Anyone seen better prices for fast cards?

here is your best reference for your question.

http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/mul...?cid=6007-7303

it is a guide to CF cards and their true transfer rate as pertaining to the 20D.

the 60x 80x 100x reference is for the capability of the card itself. there will be great variations once its plugged into a particular camera. this shows those differences.

sjms

Thanks for the link. I thought that the 1gb ultra II was fast but I did not realize how fast until I looked at the chart.

With the DRebel there is a point of diminishing returns. Look at the difference in the top several (at least last I looked) and there really isn't much. 10K-per-second faster isn't much in the grand scheme of things, especially if its a lot more money.

That sight that sjm posted is the best resource for DSLR cameras and how fast CF cards are with them.
