Ok... another Gymnastics season is upon us... which means shooting in terrible lighting conditions... Dim doesn't even begin to descripe last weeks meet... That being said I'm seriously considering moving from DRebel to a 20D:

1) Better low light focusing
2) Lower noise on higher ISO settings
3) ISO 3200 available

Anyone care to comment???

TIA,
john

John

I made the move and the 20D is amazing. I shot my son's graduation and used the iso 1600 setting and the pictures were very good. I believe it was worth the move.

I've seen some basketball shots posted on Photo.net taken with the 20D at ISO 3200 that are amazing. Focusing will be improved too, depending on the lens used it could be much better. Anything f2.8 or faster especiallywill really do well.

I've had the 300D, then the 10D, and then I sold the 300D and bought a 20D. I absolutely love the quality I get from the 20D when shooting at high ISO settings. I never used ISO settins above 200 before, but I now use high ISO settings a lot. The 20D's low noise at high ISO settings really impresses me. ...John

Ok... I made the jump... just came home with my new 20D. :|

Guess I'll have to take it with to pick up my step-daughter from practice and give the camera a little work out! And then we'll have a studio workout with my daughter who just turned 6 months...
