Default Graduated Neutral Density & Canon D-60

Graduated Neural Density & Canon D-60:

I have two B&W graduated “grau” neutral density filters at 25% and 50% strengths. When they lay on a white sheet of paper, I can easily see the differences in graduated coverage.

At the risk of sounding DUHHH…when I mount each one on my Canon D-60, I see no difference through the viewfinder and on the LCD screen. Hence, I’m unable to rotate these filters to effectively meet my image needs.

Am I missing something blatantly obvious to all of you out there? Suggestions welcomed.
