I have just joined this forum hopeing that someone can help me. I have a set of Novatron Studio lights, they have been working fine with my Canon Rebel. I decided to go digital so I can make bigger prints. I bought the Digital Rebel so everything would work with both cameras. When I put the hotshoe adapter on the Digital, the flashes went crazy, but they would not flash withthe camera and the camera would not take a picture with the adapter on. I get a 99 error.Itookbatteries out started over, same thing. The lights work fine, the test flash is fine, but the camera will not work with it. My lightcost as much asthe new camera, so I don't know what I am going to do if I can't make them work together. I can't think of anything else to do. Please Help

Might try asking in the studio flash forum http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/view_forum.php?id=54

I don't see why it would not work, lots of people are using the dReble with studio strobes from many different manufacturers, with either a plain hotshoe adapter or a safesync.

According to the Botzilla list http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.htmlthe Novatrons do not have a very high trigger voltage, so unless yours are unusual it should not be a problem. May just be a camera setting that needs to be set. :?

Thank you. I figured it out. I feel a little silly, but it was a setting on my flash. You can't use the red eye reduction with the studio set up.

I'm a newbie working with a digital Canon Rebel. I have a set of Novatron Studio lights, but cannot seem to get the external lights to trigger. The test on the box and hot shoe work, but the flashes do not trigger with the camera. I have the camera set in manual mode with a shutter speed of 125. Is there something I am missing?

I believe the plug is correct and the cableis inserted tightly into the shoe.

Thanks!

Bryan

Zurb, I have a Panasonic digital which I hook up to my strobes, and sometimesI hit a button which disables the external flash from firing (on my camera it is one of the buttons on my 4 way controller scroll thingee.). Maybe you have your external flash disabled. For my cam, right on the view screen there is a picture of a flash with a big red "X" going thru it and I never see it. I just fire and there is no flash, then I figure it out. Hope that helps.
