a few weeks i got an 300D black cover and the firmware is 1.1.1 > anyone konws if tja FEC problem (underexposure) was fixed by canon in this model/firmware. in negativa case, there is an way to download an new (not cracked) firmware?

You can always get a 'correct' (Sigma/550EX) flash and get over most of the limitations of the 300D that is remedied by the hack, i.e.:

o FEC is performed on the flash
o 2nd curtain sync is also selected on the flash

I guess the short answer is, does your EOS300D underexpose with the mounted flash?

I recently got a 300d as well and 'enhanced' it str8 away. Using FEC for close-up flash photography is really useful.

1.1.1 is the latest firmware release by Canon...

BTW, you don't need to install the hacked firmware to set FEC in the camera.

If you are getting consistently underexposed images with flash, there areproducts that can set FEC inthe Digital Rebel (and it will remain set after powering down the camera).

Here is one example of a free utility designed for this purpose:

I've been using the Sunpak PZ5000AF on my rebel for a while now, seems to do everything the Canon 550EX does, and with the hacked firmware I can quickly do FEC from the body.
