Hey All
\
I've been convinced that the 20d is the way to go for me over the d70 or the DR XT so my next question is what is the best price and best place (reputable) to order from out there ?

Thanks all for your help

are you in the US? If so I think B&H has the best price $1369 for the body and they have packages with either the 18-55mm lens or the 17-85mm lenses (both are EF-S the lenses designed specifically for their dslrs). And they also have packages that include a 2 gig card. They are usually the cheapest. I am getting mine there tomorrow. Good luck with your purchase!

WHich lens are you going with ? I found Canoga Camera have the unit for $1349 with the 18-55 but am not really set on that lens. Let me know how you get on, I will be placing my order by mid week at latest. May end up getting something like a 28-105 Sigma or something

I always go to www.pricegrabber.com. They rate the stores and include shipping costs. Some of the stores you'll find are B&H,buydigs, and 17th St Photo. You may also want to try www.bizrate.com and www.pricetool.com. It's easy to tell from the store ratings who are the ones to deal with. I got my 20D from Canoga Camera and I've bought lenses and stuff from B&H and 17th St.

Nancy,

Are you sure about the price? The last couple days I've looked at B&H and the body only is $1499 at B&H although they do have a camera and 2gb 80x card for $1535 which brings them more in line with some of the other reputable discounters (who are selling the 20d for $1330 or so).

Thanks,

John

The non-camera 'geeks' also sell them:

John,
If you place the 20D in your shopping cart, (at B&H), the lower price shows.

I just wrote an article on this very subject for my newspaper. Without pasting the entire article here (I tend to be overly-wordy), I got my 20D at www.buydig.com. You can read the reasons in my ratings of them at www.epinions.com and at www.resellerratings.com as well I think. Bottom line was that they were the lowest price with a genuine U.S.A. Canon warranty that I could find at the time. It is also available now at Costco.com, but shipping is additional and it was included ("free") at BuyDig.com. Fast service as well- ordered on Monday night, 10pm PST, and had the camera, shipped coast to coast, on Thursday!

Notice however that IBuyDigital.com only scores well for price, which really pumps their rating up. They don't score well for "Returns or Replacement"and not that high for "Liklihood of Future Purchases". B&H Photo scores higher than this company in all categories except price.

Reading the reviews, the main issue some have with B&H is theirodd system for checking the validity of your credit card ... more humorous than a real annoyance (for me anyway) ... but it does seem to bug some people. I really didn't see it as a major hurdle for placing an order.
