Thanks everyone for your help choosing a camera and lens. I just picked up my Digital Rebel XT and Sigma 18-125 lens tonight. Battery charged quickly and I was able to take a few in my house already.

First Impressions - the body seems well built with straight forward operation. The Sigma lens focuses fast, is a bit noisy, but seems to take decent pictures (so far). I'm on holidays for another week so I will have more time to test it. The pictures I took tonight were in automatic mode with the flash.

Here is one of my favourite gargoyles. This picture is small for e-mail. I hope it isn't too small for the post.

I will be surprised if you are not happy with it.Here is a picture of a chickadee I took this morning. I need to save a bit then I will get the 100-300 F4 for distance shots.
