I recently bought a 20D and a Tamron 28-75 f.2.8 XR Di. I have been reading about some of the quality control problems for this lense. Being a newbie, I am not sure how good a copy I have. I took some pictures (see link below), and would appreciate any opinions on the quality of this copy. I took the pictures about 11-12 inches from the Tamron box and the exif info should tell you the rest. Thanks.

They looks fine to me...

Today quality controls (QC) are not what they used to be - for cost control manufacturers all use machines to make/inspect theses lenses. The robots can be in any 3rd world country or the best of germany and the products would come out with the same tolerances

Ditto with polishing/cutting the lenses, NC machines can do a much better job and more consistent (faster too) than any human can - It's all in the design up front... now help by sophisticated softwares and computers :-)
