Is there anyway to prevent the 300D from imbedding the JPEG in RAW mode? I shoot in RAW mode but never use the imbedded JPEG.I could use the space on the card, plus it may cycle a little faster in multi shot mode.

Unfortunately, no. But the prices of CF cards are dropping quickly, so buying a larger CF card should be much easier on the wallet.

That really sucks! Does anyone know about the new XT, and shooting raw only? B4 I read the reply to this post, I checked my 20D and you can just shoot raw. And I was thinking of getting an XT body, in case of problems with my 20D. And I also have an assistant who has a great eye, so I can give him the XT to get some shots in case of tech difficulties (i.e. murphy's law in full effect).

The one thing that i did was download and install the "hacked" frimware for my Canon Digital Rebel.

The Digital Rebel saves a RAW + Medium High Quality JPG

But usinga custom function with the hacked firmware, i have mine set to RAW + Small Low Quality JPG, this saves me at least 1.5MB per RAW capture.

I'm hesitant to load a hacked operating system into my camera. I did load something on to my PC that I can adjust the flash compensation with. It works fine. Do you think the camera cycles between shots any faster with the RAW + Small Low Quality JPG setting?
