A tight, small, efficient, compact powerhouse. I've been using the xt for about a week and I'm ready to say that (for the money) this is a kick ass camera! No it dosen't do EVERYTHING BETTER, but it does the most important things extremely well.

It's easy to carry, and it's ergonomic. Once you get used to the size it's apparent that Canon was not napping when they designed this camera. It has balance. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want a compact small camera with pro capabilities you can keep looking but you won't find anything in the same league, or at this price point, even close. This camera rocks. I'm a Canon guy, I've used them all, but this one is as good as it gets for what it is.

Tony,

You're making me feel real good because i ordered one tonight (It was a very good deal) and will have it in 6-8 days. Of course that will be 1 to 2 days after my daughters prom. The F717 will have to do for next weekend.

I also noticed that Circuit City has the 70-300 Canon lens on sale for $175.99 US.

What lenses are you using? going to post some pics?

cool, I was gonna buy a package deal at Ebay, but all those guys look like upsalesman, you have to call in order, then they upsell you, or give you a hard time.

buydig looks like best deal on the cam and basic lens

But I'll need that telephoto lens, is that price ballpark OK?? looks good.

Cant wait to get shootin'

i think you would be much happier with the Sigma 70-300 4-5.6 APO Macro Super II over the canon 75-300.. can pick this up for round 200 bucks..

i think there are some others (wink) that will agree with me here... :-)

Just as an FYI - you can get the XT kit (black)for under $750 direct from Dell.com if you do your homework. Got mine last month. Good luck!

That's the way i went. My Sigma came in on Tuesday and i love it... Except that my
XT was back-ordered so i have no idea if it's really any good... I'm not worried. I'm
sure it is and it has a good feel.

BTW I did beat 750 for an XT with a kit lens but not by much and only because of an employee discount on a sale price and (Of all things)a store coupon. But I'll take it
anyway i can. So here i wait... Lens in hand and no camera to put it on.
