I'm very close to buying a Canon 350D/Digital Rebel XT, with a 18-55 lens (kit). Do anyone how close (of if) I can get to an object ? I like to do a lot of macro, but can't afford a macro-lens for quite some time. Is the kit-lens acceptable for macro-shot ?

it can focus down to 10.8 inches... which isn't too bad for a standard zoom.. it should be adequate for much of your macro work until you can pick up a dedicated macro lens such as the sigma 105 or 150 macro, which will give you a little more room to work with..

enjoy your purchase, dustin
