I have narrowed down my choices between these characters.

The canon 20D with the 17-85 IS and the Nikon 20D w/ the lens kit

I absolutely love the feel of the Canon in my right hand. The Nikon feels like a brick in my hand. So you can tell I'm leaning heavily towards the Canon ...

I have tried both cameras several times at retailers. I had just about made my mind up on the Canon when the salesman mentioned that in the automatic setting, the Canon tends to take picture that are more saturated and that Nikon takes pictures with colors that are more true-to-life.

Is this true? Is this bad? Is this a good thing? What do you guys think? Thanks.

He doesn't sound very knowledgeable, plus you can set saturation at almost anything you want.

in all the tests i have read.. the 20d produces more accurate skin tones than the nikon.. it also has a higher color accuracy in objective tests.. can't remember the exact numbers though.. the differences are slight though and probably are not even noticeable in a printed picture.. i can also say from experience with my 20d produces excellent skin tones and overall excellent color accuracy..

enjoy, dustin
