Was wondering first why they make it a custom function that has to be turned on? Also is there something I should be aware of?

There is a considerable increase in noise when you shoot at ISO 3200. I believe the reason that it was made a custom function is so that it isn't accidentally selected by anyone not understanding thecompromise in quality.
