About 120-130, as RAW files vary from about 6-9 megs in size and you'll get about 970 useablemegs on a 1 Gig card. That's my average on my Rebel XT in RAW.

Between 202-267 for Large Fine .JPG's. It will vary somewhat due to your subject and color info. Camera's counter is really a "best guess" situation.

As mentioned above the file size will vary by some things like the subject matter and ISO.

On a freshly formatted 1gb card my 20D makes a guess at 106 RAW images. :-).

Since most of my images are aviation releated with lots of sky or grass in the image I get around 130 RAW but the average would be as stated about 100.
