Will the new large sensor in the latest Canon pro digital slrs be compatible with the great old Nikon and Leica film lenses? I have seen adapters on ebay. Thanks for any ideas, rosestudy

As above but add that they will also work on the 1.6x (20d,10d,300d,350d) crop and 1.3x (1d-MkII) crop and 1:1 (1Ds-mkII, 5d) crop cameras.

The adapters do move the lens out slightly from the film/sensor plane. Which may, depending on the adaptor and lens combination cause troubles focusing at infinity.

There are some real bargains to be found in the old lenses if you are willing to experiment. In some cases the adaptor may cost more than the lens itself :blah:

Thanks all for the very helpful information.* There is still some hope for my old favorite Nikkors and Leicas. It's a little difficult to imagine a Nikon F bayonet mount fitting into a smaller digital camera, but I did go to the sites you list and they assure me that it is possible.
