I'm looking at a couple dSLR's and the Rebel XT is one of them. Does the XT have some kind of Depth of Field preview function available before taking the picture? Thanks!

But bear in mind that with DOF preview what you see is not necessarily what you get.

Because of the effective low resolution of the screen it may well appear that more is sharp through the viewfinder than what you will actually get in the photo.

DOF is a complicated subject, and I suppose having the DOF preview is better than not, but the only thing I've ever used mine for is testing my lenses.

Does anyone actually ever use their DOF button???

Yes - It's actually a preview function

Put an external flash on - the DOF preview button will actually turn on the 'modeling' light mode on the flash (as well as closing down the aperture). This function becomes even more useful because when you have multiple flash heads in the wireless mode it let you evaluate the shadow(s) cast by theses various external heads also, just like any modeling light would!
