Well the other question is what type of prints do you want?

Epson as Eric talks about has the best range of what you can do on an Inkjet. They Sell their Inks as each color from like 12.00-20.00 per color mattering on the type you get but there is 6 or 8 colors so you need to have an extra of each on hand costly up front but then its cheaper to keep up.
HP's until you get into the $700 range they use tricolor ink sets they cost more per print cuz if 1 color runs out its useless for photo printing.

Dye Subs are the way im going but they have drawbacks. All prints cost the same due to the fact they run on ribbon and specific paper. thus can be a pain becuase if you run out of ribion and paper you cant always go to your megamart and it so you have to order it or go somewhere that specializes in computers to get refills for it. Now on the other hand dye subs are nice for the fact is layers the color for really high quality prints this can be higher quality than inkjets in some cases even thou the DPI is around 300. Also they can be waterproof something I havent seen inkjets yet.
