I just sold my 420EX Flash & want to be sure that the 430EX will work with my 300D? I imagine that it should work, but saw something recently about Canon giving firmware updates concerning the 430EX & the 20D. Any comments before I buy?

I am wondering myself, as I have the 300d and just upgraded to the 350d.

The 430EX is ETTL II so the 300D will not take full advantage of it since the 300D is ETTL.

The 350D (XT) will take full advantage of the 430EX.

The 430EX will work with all EOS cameras, 300D and 350D inlcuded.

I have the flash - it does ok indoors at automatic. I just bought a new Lumiquest soft box for it & have yet to get it set up. I still have my Lumiquest Mini softbox left over from my 420EX, but the velcrow went with the flash. I will probably use it with my Metz.

One thing to take note of: For some reason, I ALWAYS had problems getting the 420 on my 300D But my Metz 54 AF-1 goes right on - very easy & the 430 also goes on a lot better than the 420 did!
