I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem. Does anyone know what the actual differences between the 350D and Kiss N are?

The only ones I can say for sure is that the Kiss N has a metal body.

And for your amusement, here's the background on why I am asking

I flew in to HK today to, amongst other things, to buy the Eos 350D.

(I must thank Cathay Pacific for helping me lose weight by seating me in the middle seat of the very last row between two wide men. I couldnt stand being squashed and ended up standing reading my book for almost three hours. As a result, I also skipped the lunch and didnt actually eat anything all day until dinner. My double chin feels thinner already.)

I got into shopping mode and got a reasonable deal - body for HK$4700.

Then the sales guy got stuck into me- told me about the new Kiss N, which is much better cuz it can support a wide range of canon lens, including a new series upcoming, as well as having a new CPU, upgradable ram, able to download new software directly into the camera. It also has a metal body, as against the plastic one for the 350D. I was persuaded and so I am now the proud owner of a Canon KissN.

I have no qualms about buying the camera. It seems quite sturdy and I havent had the chance to use it yet- only bought it 4 hours ago.

But i did go online and look it up...and I cant find any mention of it anywhere.

So I now come forth and ask you, the knowledgable gurus of the Forum, to help me !

Kiss N, or Kiss Digital N, or Kiss DN, is the Japanese name of the Digital Rebel XT/350D. Did you actually see them side-by-side? They should be identical, except for the name insignia....

Thanks.

The Kiss N is physically the same shape.

However, it has a metal body, instead of the plastic one the 350D/XT does.

So the only difference is the name and material?

No other CPU/lens compatibility differences?

At least one difference is that Canon won't honor the warrenty in the US.

I don't believe there would be a lens or flash hot-shoe difference.

The 350D/Kiss N is available in two colors: black and silver. Either designation can be had in either color, but it is still plastic. The "chassis" of both the 300D/Kiss and the 350D/Kiss N are "Stainless steel + Plastic" and the exterior material is "plastic". Here's a link to Canon's comparison of the Kiss Digital N (350D) and the Kiss Digital (300D):
http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/t...03/table1.html

As far as the other differences that were mentioned, they actually describe the differences between the Digital Rebel/300D/Digital Kiss and the Digital Rebel XT/350D/Kiss N. The XT/350D/Kiss N has the new DIGIC II CPU, 8.0 megapixels sensor, and new EF-S lens mount.
