I bought my wife the Tamron 18-200mm for Xmas and it appears to take great pictures on her 300D.

they are both good lenses when you consider how much zoom range they cover.. much better than the older 28-300 style lenses of a few years ago..

the sigma has less distortion at the wide end and is generally considered the sharper of the two through most of the range.. but the tamron seems to have a slight edge near the long end of the zoom..

in the end, i doubt there is that much difference..

:-)I have the Rebel 300D [model prior to XT] for which I have two lenses. Purchased my camera without the stocked lens. 1st lens is an EF 24mm - 85mm F 1:3.5-4.5 USM, and the 2nd a 135mm F 1: 2.8. These two lenses covers 38mm to 136mm and 216mm. At the 200 focal length which equals 320mm believe that you will need a tripod at the longer length. Just a thought.

thank you, for your reply, I just got the sigma 18-200, and my next lens will be a faster f2.8 but that is in a few months from now, what I have now sure beats what I had befor, an Olympus C-770, it is a big jump for me, thanks again.
