Default 1Ds question

I asked this question rather broadly and got a good answer from Lin (Thanks!)

But now I want to ask it specifically. What do people feel is the dynamic range (in f-stops) that the 1Ds and the 1D can capture with RAWs?

roughly 5 stops.

Ref:

This histogram shows an almost perfect distribution of tones covering about a 4 stop dynamic range from deep shadows on the left to just short of bright highlights on the right. This fits comfortably within the approximately 5 stop dynamic range capability of most digital imaging chips

this is coming from someone who uses the 1D/1Ds fairly extensively.

I've even read that page in the past, but I was focusing on its main topic and completely missed that detail. Thanks for the reference.

Anyone else out there have either camera and want to chime in with their experiences?
