Hi all,
just how good is this lense?
I am thinking of using it with a canon 350D - any good for reasonable close macro perchance?
Any sample pics to look at too.

thanks for your time

wow..thanks very much...I also loved the shots taken on the Fuji 9500 which I had also been considering as an 'all rounder', although had been put off by some of the reviews, which seem quite confounded by your results........do they look 'that' good at larger display print sizes too perchance

ta for your help

Yes. The s9500 is a great camera and I have excelent A4 prints plastered all over my office walls. I only changed because I was offered a DSLR at a good price and got the 350D because it was small and had great features.
Once you learn the basics it is quite easy to get good results from most modern cameras. I learned the basics 50 years ago and nothing except the way the image is recorded has changed much.

i use this lens a lot as well, but on a Nikon D50 and have no real complaints about it. Sure it would be nice if the f/ was better but then you'd have to pay a lot more. For outdoor, well lit, or flash use I have gotten a lot of great results. Then if I need low light shots the 50mm f/1.8 works great.
