OK, so I don't have the money for the 50m F/1.0 and my budget is for something like the f/1.8. But I can still dream about owning the fastest EFlens that canon has made right?? Well last night I wanted to goo over the massive glass of the 1.0, and think about trying to save money to buy it. I noticed that Canon has removed it from there list of lenses.
B&H didn't have it, e-bay didn't have it??? Was i only dreaming about the f1.0??? Did it only exist in my invisible camera bag of fancy equipment I can't afford??? No, I saw a review of it on-line so I must not be making this up. Where did the 1.0 go? |

They discontinued it but you can still get the 85mm f/1.2... (which is about the same dimension externally)

That lens is pointless. At f/1 and 50mm you have a DOF of a few inches tops. It's fun to dream, but lenses like that are up there with the 1200mm in terms of usefulness:?

At approx 75000$cdn that lens is a rental, :blah:I suspect the only ones who can afford to buy it are leasing agencies and large corporations.
That F1.0 50mm was not so bad:-)at 10-feet it had a dof of just under a half foot, and at 100-feet it has a dof of 49-feet. Only in an FD mount, pitty. Peter. Ponin wrote: Quote:

Guys...
The 50mm f/1.0 is an EF mount: ![]() http://www.shutterbug.net/test_reports/0402sb_canons/ The FD 50mm only came in f/1.2, and I have an even older FD 55mm f/1.2 with the breechlock - BTW a 200-300mm f/2.8 tele zoom has even less DOF than a 50mm f/1.0: http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html -> the demise of 50mm f/1.0 with the higher ISO digital cameras ![]() |
