hello
any thoughts or comments on the macro capability of the canon 70-300mm is lens what is it mag ratio i do know it will not match a dedicated macro lens which i cannot afford so i wont even go there or would the 70-200 L f4 lens be better i really like IS a lot especially in certain situations when a tripod is impossible to use or carry i presently use the sigma 70-300mm non is lens which is 1:2 magnification its a good lens but works better on a tripod which sometimes is not convenient the henrys show is up later this month and who knows if i deal falls in i might wanna grab it thanks for your comments cheers spring is here pete |

What is the best walk around lens for Pentax istD? I was thinking Tonkina 70-300? What is the macro? I have a 105 true macro but it's heavy and I want something that AF and easy to carry.
Thanks. |

It is a 1:2 marco lens, it is really does a good job also. As you said if you want better you will need a true macro lens.

Looks like Tamron re-invented that lens. Vibration control, faster focusing motor, don't know the price.
