I'm thinking of buying the Canon 24-85 USM lens to replace the"standard" lens that came with my 300D. I appreciate the range is reduced but am looking for a better quality lens. Does anyone have any experience of this lens?

The 24-85 USM is one of the better consumer zooms Canon makes.
