k im getting an canon xt rebel soon and i was wondering what lens to get next, i know im going to want a telephoto for sports but idk how this would do at night
Canon EF 55-200mm F/4.5-5.6 II USM http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._6_USM_II.html i will be buying the xt body and using a 28-90mm canon ef lens i already have, so im wandering if the 55-200mm will be a good beginner lens, i was thinking it would be a little sharper then the 75-300 simply because there is a little less zoom range? does anyone have this lens and if so tell me what you think of it! thanks |

I have this lens. It works best in the bright outdoor conditions. It's not a good lens for shooting indoor action under low light. You would need to use an external flash.
It is small and light weight on the XT so it's easy to carry for long periods around your neck. |

If your intent is to shoot night sports there is no such thing as a beginner lens. It doesn't exist. Night sports shooting requires either external flash (in which case you'll have limited shot selection because you'll be shooting one-shot not really burst) or you need a 2.8 aperture lens. In any event, a 5.6 lens won't work well for anything at night without a tripod or a flash. It will have difficulty focusing without focus assist from the flash and shutter speeds w/o flash will be too slow. |
