Just had my RebelXT for about 2 weeks and just got the 50mm f1.8 to supplement the kit lensfor low light shots. It was overcast this morning so I took it out to shoot some of the flowers in my wife's garden. Appreciate any comments.

Not too shabby! How do you like the FOV with the XT and the 50mm f/1.8?

Hi, thanks for the comment. I don't have any problems with the fov - I wasn't aware that was an area of concern with that camera/lens combination. Has there been some discussion about that issue?:?

I just meant that it becomes a 80mm on the XT and I was wondering if that was too narrow a field of view for you. Naturally, it depends on what your purpose for the lens is though.

So far this 50 works okay for me. The kit lensgoes from 18 to 55, so I have the wider angles covered pretty good. I'm expecting delivery next week on a Sigma 70 to 300 APO which should cover the telephoto ranges okay. As I experiment with the new 50, I may eventually opt for a normal lens somewhat wider like a30 or 35, but right now I think I'm going to have to hold off buying anymore glass for a while.
