First try with 100mmL

First try with the wife's Canon 100mm L f2.8 IS lens. The lens looks like it will be great on the cameram just the people behind the camera need some work.

Nice shots, but the DOF is too shallow for my taste.

I found it difficult to come to terms with the DOF available
from a 1:1 macro lens. It is often necessary to use a very
small aperture like f/22, even if this means trading some
sharpness for DOF.

Focus stacking will allow you to make sharp images
with a greater DOF. I have tried this technique with only
limited success so far. I have just installed Magic Lantern
firmware on my 50D. This has Stack Focus as a standard
feature. Perhaps my next attempt will be more successful.

Good luck with the new lens. I'm sure you will both enjoy it.
