How long to wait for temperature equalization?

My Christmas present (To myself) was just dropped off by UPS. A nice new image stabilized lens. I read the instruction booklet and Canon recomends leaving the lens sealed until it gets to room temperature. What they don't say is how long to wait. I called their technical support line and the rep I talked to thought that 4-5 hours would be ok.

If that is the case fine, I'll wait. But the rep didn't sound to confident in his answer and if I don't have to wait that long I (Obviously) don't want to.

Has anyone worked out how long I should wait to go from 22 degrees to 68 degrees in my home?

And if this lens is weather sealed shouldn't that offset the condensation issue?

weather sealed from water to get inside. But what if condensation happens inside the lens. Now the weather seal will prevent the lens from working probably due to water damage

Chill mate, wrap it in a plastic bag, leave it for the night and morning ur good to go.

if u have a dehumdifier, use it on the lens and u sbhould be good to go in less than a hour. I have used my lens after one to two hours after shipment. No issues so far
