Kindly suggest a good set of lenses for Canon 70D camera

Hi! As an amateur enthusiast, my usage of cameras is limited to travel & family.

Last month I purchased Canon 70D with its kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM), added the most common prime (EF 50mm f/1.8 II).

Then I added a used telephoto (EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS) from eBay. During this purchase, I made an error in noticing the exact model number. I ended up with the oldest EFS model, instead of II or the latest STM versions.

Thinking loud about the following points now.

One: For what all contexts is this telephoto lens inconvenient - vis--vis the STM model? Worth replacing now?

Two: Which additional lens is a good supplement for my usage? A wide-angle lens with big aperture? A telephoto lens with macro?

(As such, I don’t want to carry too many lenses in my camera bag. Any of my camera upgrades in future will be limited to Canon APSC models only. As anyone would wish, my preference is also for IS models.)

For me, I'd replace the 18-55 with the Canon 15-85 or the Sigma 17-70.

Even the older 55-250 is a pretty good lens. The real advantage of the STM is the quiet AF for when you're shooting video.

The Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is a quiet lens and is great for shooting video. For me, I use a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L which I use a lot for traveling. I bought this refurbished lens from the Canon website for $535 plus CA sales tax. I like this lens a lot using it on both 5D MKII and T3i. I just ordered a D70 body from Adorama. I hope it will add some speed to my birding shots.

I hope you don't mind me jumping on board cause I'm not trying to hi-jack your thread, I have virtually the same kit as you and have the same question ..
I also just bought the 70D and got the canon 18-135 STM along with it ,
I still have my EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5 ,EF-S 55-250mm f/3.5 that I got when I bought my T3i but after shooting with the 18-135 STM I feel those noisy old kit lenses are no longer up to speed so, I've been spending a lot of time researching and looking a new lenses for my 70D.
A lens I keep going looking at is the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 , I'm torn between the getting the VC version or macro , the VC doubles the price of the lens.
I've also had my eye on that 15-85 TCav mentioned , looks like a really nice lens

Info on older version 70 - 200 Tamron 2.8

I have the older non VC Tamron 70 - 200 F2.8 lens. The picture quality for portraits is excellent matching the quality of the older Canon L lens at this focal range. However it is quite slow and very noisy. The upgrade not only has VC but also has an ultrasonic motor that increases the speed and greatly reduces the noise level (sound).

I was really tempted to get the non VC cause its half the price of the VC version however , I would much rather wait till I can spring for the VS version cause I know I'll be much happier. I am however giving serious consideration to the 15-85 USM for now , I'm happy with my 18-135 and its an awesome walk around lens but I'm thinking I'll get better images with the 15-85
