I recently bought a Nikon D60 DSLR and a Tamron AF70-300mm lens as I want to take pictures of birds. Is this a good lens or should I change it to a different lens and which one would you suggest?

Please don't take this the wrong way but, this is a Canon lens forum. But, as far as photographing birds, depends on how close you can get to them. But, as a common rule, 400mm is about as short a lens as you would want for birds. A lot of us shoot with 500mm to 800mm for birds.
