I have an old Canon FD 70-210 F4 lens. I was thinking of selling it, but if I'm using the 2X teleconverter, I'd lose the auto focus anyway.
Does anyone know the quality of this lens?

Are you sure you are not referring to the EF 70-210mm?

I mean the old FD lens. It's a mute point though. I tried to attatch it to the 20D body , but it's a different mount....

You could always get an FD to EF adaptor then use your lens manually.

I have some old FD lens also and there's a company in Britain that makes a high quality FD to EF converter. The one they make includes a couple of glass elements so that you don't lose the ability to focus to infinity. When using it you lose about 1 to 2 F-stops of light but their glass adds 20% to the magnification. So using my Canon 135mm F3.5 on my new Rebel XT, I'd get the equivalent of an F5.6 or F8 and a 35mm equivalent of about 250mm.

The adapter with shipping and british pound conversion gets to your door at about $90 all in.

If I had more or more expensive lenses, I'd do it in a heartbeat. For this little old 135mm and 50 1.4, not gonna do it.

Best way to check it out for yourself is to go to their website and download their pdf catalog. Weed thru all the other scientific stuff and you'll find all the lens converters on one page with pretty good pics and explainations. Here's the website:
