I have been searching for an inexpesive long tele zoom for some time

and have been all over the price and quality spectrum. I presently have a Quantaray

70-300 which I believe is made by sigma. I am now considering either the 70-300

sigma AF f/4-5.6 macro superII APO or the 135-400 f/4-5.6 or the 170-500 f/5-6.3

at about $180/$430/$520 respectively. Which one if any is worth the money or

should I wait until I have more and by the canon 70-200 f/4 and the 1.4 canon tc

For the money and range offered, look at sigma 50-500.

I see that the 50-500 is rated higher for sharpness but is it worth the difference in price. I consider myself a fair photographer and have sold several wildlife images and landscapes. What has held me back from selling some of my better images is the sharpness. I really irks me when you get that just right shot and it comes out a little to soft. Even after editing.

the 50-500 will set you back around 850...

consider the sigma 100-300 if hsm apo.. much sharper than anything thus far mentioned with a constant f4.0will set you back about 750..

later if you need the extra reach.. the 1.4x teleconverter will make it a constant f 5.6 140-420.....

you will be much more satisfied with this system...
