Anyone have recommendations, cautions, etc. about a good image stabilized lens for the Rebel XT? I currently use as my everyday lens a Tamron 18-200, which is excellent most of the time but in situations such as sports/action photography, I think an IS lens would help. Any suggestions?

If you have the bucks, the 24-105 f/4L is about as good as it gets. It's about a grand, but the build quality and IQ are superb.

The 17-85 is a very nice all-rounder.

The 17-55 f2.8 is an excellent lens. Rivalled only by the Nikon equivalent.

I'm just getting to check my replies. Thanks for the info. I was thinking of a long lens IS, such as the 70-300 or maybe 100-40. One thing I've noticed about ads for the 70-300: one is about $600-70, the other is about $1000. The only difference is that the more expensive one has a DO in its description. What does that mean? It must be significant to cost several hundred dollars more.
