I have rented a Canon lens, the 85mm 1.8 for this coming weekend to shoot

some basketball pictures of my son. I am going to use it on my digital Canon XT.

What settings would I use with this lens, as this will be the first time using it.

I have not had the pleasure of using this lens but looking at people like JohnG who use it very well I would suggest starting with ISO 1600, f2.2 and 1/400th (if the gym is quite well lit) then adjust from there to get the right exposure (remember to expose for the skin tones not the kit).
