I need a wind angle for indoors and other tight situations.

How tight and wide you do plan to shoot? I recently picked up a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 as my walkaround lens. It works pretty well shooting my 55mph kids around the house. It has a constant f2.8 throughout the zoom range which is nice for playing with the DOF.
