I am looking to purchase a 70mm-300mm macro lens for my new XTi 400D. I looked at amazon and they have two that look identical but one is APO and costs $60 more. What is APO and is it worth the extra money? Any other sites that are better (cheaper)to purchase lenses, accessoriesetc? Here are some links to the lenses, Thanks!

go to www.sigmaphoto.com and look at their FAQ page and look at the lens tab - it explains the difference between the two lenses.

Go for APO, the best value tele lens on market. It's not great, and non APO is even worst. I have it, it's on the limit I call tolerable if you go above 200mm.

Actually you have no choice at all in this segment for EOS mount. First better lens then APO costs 3 times more.
