I think they had you in mind when Sigma came up with this.

Mods -sorry it's a link to another site but I didn't see it in Steve's news section.

How's that for a monster lens. Just think, 1000mm 5.6

Of course, no price tag seems to be included.

Don't worry, if she kills you, Canon will give you a 21 gun salute. For those who bought the low budget Sigma lenses, the big fat ugly boss at home hangs them, Sigma will give a $5 rebate on the casket.

Low budget?
The Sigma 300-800 f/5.6 is around 7000$us,
I would hazard a guess this new Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 may be closer to the 10,000$us range.
Heck the old short telephoto Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 set me back almost 2800$us

By comparison the Canon 500 f/4 L IS is only 5250$ at BH :G

I would not use the term "low budget" with any of these lenses :?

Wow!!!! Any lens is handholdable depending on the individual. But, for the average person, I would think this would be a 15 to 20 pound monster that would really need to be on a tripod. I'd definitely like to try one out!!! I would guess around $10K and it is totally worth it because they throw in a 2X teleconverter. That makes all the differenc!!!:G
