Has anyone tried the new Tamron 18-250mm lens on any Canon DSLR camera. I have one on order and I will post some sample photos taken with my 20D and XTi as soon as I receive the new lens.

Well, the Tamron 18-250 lens just arrived 5 minutes ago and I have time to take only one handheld shot with my Canon XTi taken at the 100mm (approx.) mark on the lens. Over the next couple of days I will be taking a whole series of photos.

Hello mtclimber

Congrats on your new acquisition! : - )

I was looking in here to get some info on theTamron AF 18-250 F/3.5-6.3 and look who I found posting! : - )

I had been looking in the shops for the 18-200 you had suggested for me and was toldthis was newer/had replaced it.

I've decided to go with your very sensible advice and start with this kind of lens which I'm hoping will be versatile in many situations and allow me to get a feel for the camera and what I can / would like to do.

I'd really like to go ahead and buy the camera - I have a trip coming up and it would be great if I could take it with me. (Lots of birds, nature, scenery, wide angle - no dogs!!!)

So, at your convenience I'd love to hear your opinion 'cos I'm raring to go!!

Thanks again for your help in the other Forum. Your advice has been invaluable to me.

PS - An indication of what you paid would be great for comparison purposes; I'm going to have to haggle!
