Hey everyone, I am thinking about buying this lens as a replacement for my kit lens that came with my Rebel XT. I have read alot of reviews and it seems tobe a verygood lens. My question is some people say this lens sucks in dust. How does it suck in dustand how much dust does it suck in. And do all people have this problem with this lens? Does the dust go in the lens or does it get sucked into the camera body? Either way i think this lens will be good for my main walk around lens. Right now i have the kit lens
EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 USM Standard Zoom Lensand i have the
EF 75-300 mm f/4 - 5.6 III Telephoto Zoom Lens. I like the 75-300 but the pictures aren't as clear as i would like them and the color doesn't seem to beverybold. Those of you you whohas this lens, will i see a noticable differance in the EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM standard zoom lens compaired to my other lenses?

Well go for the 17-85 then and then the 70-300 IS NEW it's a fantastic lens, you could also consider 3rd party lenses as well they are sweet as well,, and you have to stop posting the same thing over and over

I have the 28-135IS. Also the 17-85IS. Plus some longer lenses, as well. The 28-135 is fine, but it just is not wide enough. 28mm on a crop camera, is like 44 on a full frame--just a short normal lens. I never take the 28-135 as a "walkaround", although it is a pretty good portrait lens.

I've recently heard about a problem that develops with the 28-135, where some internal part will break, and it is a very expensive repair. My source was a guy who buys and sells, is a Canon rep, and practically lives on Ebay.

The 17-85IS has been my walking lens, but the 85mm end is not long enough, so I end up taking another lens too. That's why I just bought the new Sigma 18-200 OS lens. OS is Sigma's version of IS. Here is a pretty comprehensive user review:

For the first two days of testing, I am quite happy with it. It even did pretty well with a Tamron 1.4x extender, although the AF was a little flaky with much hunting.

It's my new walker.
