I am buying a used Canon EF 24-105/4L IS USM. The zoom has recently been changed because canon had made a mistake in production of the first batch of lenses sold in my country.

The seller tells me that I may experience the zoom to be tight, but this will loosen within a half years time.

Is this normal? Will it loosen after use?

Most lenses zoom rings do get looser however I would not expect a 24-105 to be tight, mine is nice an smooth so would be cautious.

Have had my 24-105 since the lenswas releasledin 2005,was smooth from day one and has not loosened up. Use thisas my walk around lens and spends the most time on my camera.

The first batch anythingwith a control code number less than UT1000 had aissue withflare in very rare situations (rays of light). Myone had this issue and was replaced by Canon.

Recently scored a used Canon EF 35-70 from a garage sale (it does not have a macro ring) for use with a secondhand 350D.
