I just purchased a new sharp L lens. It is a 24-105 F4. My questions is if I use auto focus I can still move the focus ring. Is this normal? If I manually focus it works well and if I auto focus it still works well it just bugs me. Can someone be kind enough to help? By the way the lens is used, one owner other than me.

thank you.

Yes, that is a feature of the high-end USM - it has full-time manual focus override.

Which means that if you grab the focus ring to adjust focus it manually you don't force the motor and break the lens. This is generally regarded as a good thing.

Your lens is fine - enjoy it. I have one too and it's lovely.

The 70-200 should have it too!
Did you have the camera set on one-shot AF? In AI-servo it will just overide your manual focusing...

yes, one shot AF. Thanks for the info. The 70-200 L does it also, I just did not notice it.

Thanks for replying.
