Since there are nottoo many reviews of this lens that I could find, I made my own, comparing it to the non-IS kit lens. Even though I got a bad copy of the IS lens at first, I now have a new one, and I have to say, it's well worth it. Have a look:

good review...if u get a chance do add a comparison pictures from lens's like 24-105 or 24-70 or any faster lens u may get a chance to. Good luck

Funny, I also spent some time to compare those two lenses, without knowing about your site, andposted a similar review here:

I was more interested in overall image quality and I did not post sharpness tests. I can confirm however that the IS lens is much sharper.

Nice write up, seems like a perfect lens for the money how about testing it with the EF-S 17-85 and see what the difference would be

I will rent either the 17-85 or the 17-55 this summer and tests it against them. I have used the 17-55 before but I did not own the 18-55 IS then.
