I am hoping to spend a bit more timeshooting my mates playing tennis, then playing (old knees) and would like some advice on which lens would be the best suited for this. Thanks in advanceI have a Canon Rebel Xt

where will you be shooting from (on court, behind fence, in stands)? What type of venue (outdoor, indoor, capacity)?

Those questions will determine what focal length you need and what aperture (due to lighting conditions).

I will be using outdoors mostly in bright sunlight, perhaps some from behind a fence, but mostly in the stands. We're not pro's, so Ineed to be far enough away to capture candid shots, otherwise they'll pose, yes, they really will.

If you're right at the court then 70-200 f4 is a great choice. If in the stands I would opt for the 70-300 IS USM. That's a good price /quality point (about $560). The next step up is $1000.
