Default What type of filter???

I want to protect my new lens. Which brand and which type of filter should I buy. What is the difference between a clear, UV/Haze and a Skylight 1A filter.

Your suggestions will be very appreciated as I am confused. I have a Canon 10D

A clear and UV/Haze is usually the same thing! A Skylight 1A will have a slight tint... but so what? If you have your camera on 'auto' white balance it's all moot!

I use a KR1.5 or KR3 for example to warm up the skin tone, but unless you are on manual white balance, all theses filters will be 'transparent' to the camera output... They used to be big deal with fixed balanced color film!

I'll start with Heliopan or B+W and then Hoya Multi-Coated... and work down the list...

Default Might be some help

Read this: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...essage=6166467

I had focus problems with Canon filters on the 18-55 EF-S and a Sigma 70-300mm APO.
